LES MISÉRABLES CELEBRATES ITS 3000th PERFORMANCE ON BROADWAY WEDNESDAY, JULY 13 AT THE IMPERIAL THEATER
June 28, 1994- Cameron Mackintosh's production of Les Misérables will celebrate its 3000th performance on Broadway Wednesday, July 13 (matinee performance) at the Imperial Theater. The musical, written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, has been seen by over 4.3 million people in New York since it opened on March 12, 1987 and is currently the 9th longest-running show in Broadway history.
Worldwide, Les Misérables has been seen by over 34 million people, for a total gross of over $1 billion. Internationally, there have been 27 productions of Les Misérables, in 14 different languages, in 22 countries.
Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, Les Misérables is an epic saga that sweeps through three turbulent decades of 19th century French history. The show is also the story of one man, the fugitive Jean Valjean, who is pitted against the cruel and self-righteous Inspector Javert, in a lifelong struggle to evade capture.
The cast of Les Misérables currently includes Craig Schulman (Jean Valjean), Robert Cuccioli (Javert), Sarah Uriarte (Eponine), Susan Gilmour (Fantine), Craig Rubano (Marius), Jennifer Lee Andrews (Cosette), Ron Bohmer (Enjolras), Gina Ferrall (Mme. Thenardier) and Drew Eshelman (Thenardier).
